The Story

This is a landscape shot that truly transcends time.

Having just rolled in from a long drive down I-70 from Denver, this was one of the first stops I made within Canyonlands. I wanted to get a shot of Delicate Arch in Arches National Park at sunset, but since I didn't know how difficult it would be to get to, I first tried my luck here.

This shot was captured at the edge of a handicap-accessible outlook. Many breath-taking views such as this one aren't normally found at such accessible locations; it was refreshing to see that this particular view is.

The Green River Overlook offers panoramic views of the canyons with little-to-no effort. It’s one of those areas that you wonder what the first explorers thought of the land; how they reacted after months of traveling to reach an edge of the cliff that overlooks the vastness of this canyon formed by the winding river far below. With the setting sun lighting up the far cliffs in the distance, you can imagine the scale of this landscape throughout history and the countless people who have enjoyed its beauty.
