The Story

A single landscape separated by a galaxy. Or, what it seemed to me. I like this shot because the contrast between the green trees and rock formations makes this landscape scene in Cedar Pass look like two different planets. On our way back to Rapid City from Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, SD, my wife and I decided to stop for some sunset pictures. This particular shot in October of 2015 took place at the bottom of Cedar Pass near the park visitor center. After about 10-15 minutes looking for the right spot, I finally found this scene. With the sunlight running out, I took several shots and felt good about this one. Really taking in this landscape shot can transport you to a totally different world.
