Badlands National Park, SD
The expanse and desolate beauty of the Badlands intensifies at dusk. While in the park, I drove around looking specifically for a spot that would give me a wide view of the area, ideally facing either north or south. Eventually, I found this location where I could get a great view of a nice variety of formations in the park. Thus, this six-shot panorama came to be. With the sun setting behind me and the amazing landscape in front, I caught an exquisite scene. On this particular day in September 2012, the sun was at an optimal spot at 6:30 p.m. for this photo. It’s almost as if you could look out across the landscape for miles and miles. Sunset in the Badlands is a cathartic experience if you ever have the chance.
